Leymah Gbowee is known for being a Liberian peace activist who is responsible for leading a major women’s nonviolent peace movement that started in 2003. This movement was called, Women of Liberia Mass Action for Peace that helped bring an end to the Second Liberian Civil War in Liberia, Africa.
